Bidding at last Saturday’s Charolais Show and Sale in Carlisle in Northern England peaked at 21,000 gns sterling (over €32,000) for Irish bred HOLLYMOUNT VAGABOND, who was overall reserve champion of the show. By Indurain and out of a home bred dam by Doonally New, he was bred by Thomas Jennings, Hollymount, Co. Mayo. He was purchased last summer in a private deal by Richard O’Beirne, Tuam, Co. Galway, Leo McEnroe, Oldcastle, Co. Meath and Brian McAllister, Kells, Ballymena, Co. Antrim.
Congratulations to all concerned.
Second highest price of the day £14,000 gns sterling, was paid for a fifteen months old son of Roundhill Rocky.
One hundred and thirty-one bulls sold to average £3,098 including seventeen lots at 5,000 gns or more.
Out thanks to the British Charolais Society for the photograph of Hollymount Vagabond. A full report on the sale is on the BCCS web site at www.charolais.co.uk
