Top price of €7,100 at November Show and Sale - Tullamore

CHAROLAIS TOP AT €7,100 FOR CHAMPION HEIFER

A second prize winner from the National Charolais Show and Female champion at last Saturday’s (25th November) show and sale in Tullamore GURTAVALLA AINE, sold for the top price of the day at €7,100. Bred by Sheelagh and Paddy Ryan, Gurtavalla, Doon, Co. Limerick and just 14 months of age, by “Excellent” , out of a home bred dam by “Meillard”, she was purchased by Karol Farrell, Cornadrung, Aughnacliffe, Co. Longford. The Ryan’s second sale offering, a third prize winning heifer from the National Show and reserve female champion on the day “Gurtavalla Athena” by “Doonally New” and out of a home bred dam by “Indurain”, sold for €4,400 to Gerard Fogarty, Ballinacanty, Blueball, Tullamore.

Male Championship & Reserve went to Patsy McCabe’s Blakestown Herd, Ardee, Co., Louth.
Champion BLAKESTOWN ABRAHAM is by “Blakestown Obleix” out of a home bred dam by “Ecrin”. He sold for €4,800 to James McManus, Ballyowen, Daingean, Co. Offaly. Reserve Male Champion “Blakestown Alan” by “Blakestown Seigneur” out of a home bred dam by “Jupiter” sold for €4,500 to Mark Cosgrove, Travane, Cloonloo, Co. Sligo.
A third bull from the Blakestown Herd, also a first prize winner “Blakestown Arnold” by “Blakestown Seigneur sold for €4,500 to Noel Martyn, Moyvilla, Oranmore, Co. Galway.
€5,800 Top bull price of the day went to Michael Green, Dromore, Feakle,Co. Clare, for a 15 months old son of “Doonally New”

Average price for bulls was €2961 with a price range from €1200 to €5800. Heifers averaged €2732 with a price range from €1300 to €7,100

Next Charolais Sale is on Saturday 2nd in Ennis and the final sale of the year takes place in Carrick on Shannon on 9th December.
