AVERAGE FOR CHAROLAIS BULLS AT FIRST SOCIETY SALE OF THE YEAR WAS €2566.
Top price of the sale, €5,600, held on Saturday in Tullamore went to BONNAVELLA BRIAN, bred by Martin Killeen, Ballymakea Beg, Mullagh, Co. Clare. By "Doonally New) and out of a dam by "Erudit".
Second top price of the sale, €5050, went to the Reserve Male Champion RIVERSDALE ANCHOR bred by K. and T. Maguire, Eskeroom, Dunderry, Navan, Co. Meath. By “Oscar” he is out of a dam by “Jupiter”
Male Championship honours went to Richard O’Beirne, KIlconly, Tuam, Co. Galway for “Doon Armani”. By “Doonally New” and out of a dam by “Excellent” he did not sell having failed to reach his reserve.
Other prices at the sale:
€4550 to Fintan Mulligan, for a son of “Oscar”
€4500 to James Ryan for a son of “Rodin”
€4200 to P.J. Ryan for a son of “Doonally New”
€3600 to P.J.Ryan for a son of “Doonally New”
€3550 to Patrick McCabe for a son of “Ushuaia”
€3450 to Ronan Carey for a son of “Domino”
€3,000 to Richard Murphy for a son of “Igloo”
Price range was from €1400 to €5050 with a clearance of 75%.
Championship in the small female section went to John Keane, Mohedian, Croghan, Boyle, Co. Roscommon for his 2 year old heifer MOHEDIAN ANN. By “Doonally New” and out of “Leitrim Tess” a grand-daughter of “Hara Kiri” she sold for €3000 to Tom Byrne, Tinode, Blessington, Co. Wicklow.
The next official Charolais Society Sale is in Ennis on Saturday 10th March, followed by the Premier Show and Sale in Tullamore on the 31st March.
