GREAT TRADE FOR BULLS IN TULLAMORE

A large attendance and a very brisk trade resulted in an average price of €3,030 for bulls at the Charolais Society show and sale in Tullamore on Saturday, last 24th November.
Top price of €5250 went to a first prize winner “Weskel Boyd” bred by Wesley Kellett, Farthadreen, Bailieboro, Co. Cavan. By “Epsom” he was out of a home bred dam by “Lyonsdemesne Norealis. He was purchased by Patrick Clarke, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway.
Champion bull “Lislin Bruce” sold for €4,700. Bred by William Cahill, Lislin, Mullagh, Kells, Co. Meath he is by “Roundhill Rocky” and out of a home bred dam by “Mogador”. He was purchased by Michael Cosgrave, Carrick, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary.

€4,900 was recd by Patrick O’Malley for a son of Doonally New
€4,500 was recd by Kieran O’Connell for a son of Nelson
€4,000 was recd by Lyonsdemesne Est. for a son of Doonally Nicefor
€3,500 was recd by Kieran O’Connell for a son of Nelson
€3,500 was recd by Patrick Dalton for a son of Pirate
€3,300 was recd by Peter Greene, Killaderry, Daingean, Co. Offaly
€3,100 was recd by William Cahill for a son of Doonally New
€3,100 was recd. by A. & G. Brickley for a son of Celtic Vichy
€3,100 was recd by Michael Nerney for a son of Doonally Olmeto
€3,100 was recd by William Cahill for a son of Maerdy Sinndar
CHAMPION FEMALE was "Glenree Amy" bred by John O'Grady, Creggane, Glenamaddy, Co. Galway. She is by Doonally New and out of a home bred dam by Indurain.
RESERVE FEMALE CHAMPION was "Lislin Ally" bred by William Cahill, Lislin, Mulagh, Kells, Co. Meath. She is by Doonally Nicefor and out of Ardamagh Riona.
Production Sales
The Celtic herd (owned by Angela & Gerard Brickley) production sale achieved a full clearance and a top price of €4,300 for “Celtic Sonja” by “Indurain”. She sold with her heifer calf at foot by “Celtic Vichy” to Joseph Delaney, Ballycuddihy, Kilmanagh, Co. Kilkenny.
An 11 months old heifer “Celtic Blondie” also by “Celtic Vichy” sold for €4050 to Michael Hanlon, Ballinroey, Dring, Longford.
The Tarabe herd (owned by George Appelbe) production sale also had a very successful outing selling in excess of 80% of their sale offering. Top price of €3,000 was paid by Basil Buchanan, Carn Cash, Sligo for “Blakestown Tatiana” by “Blakestown Obleix. Unfortunately, the two show females did not reach their reserve and were not sold.
Next Charolais Society sale is on Saturday in Ennis and the final sale for the year takes place in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday 8th December.
