CHAROLAIS HIT €11,000 AT TULLAMORE

Following on the great weanling trade for Charolais the first Society sale of the Autumn attracted a huge attendance and a very brisk trade resulting in a top price
of €11,000 and an average of €2,971 for bulls in Tullamore on Saturday, last 22nd November.
Top price of €11,000 was paid for the Champion Male, “Leagaun Celtic” owned by Peter O’Toole, Leagaun, Moycullen, Co. Galway. A former National Calf Champion and multi show prize winner he is by “Enfield Plexus” and is out of “Lyonsdemesne Unity” by “Dovea Gin Tonic”. He was purchased by Kenneth Schakelton, Pentglass Farm, Bedwas, Caerphilly, Wales.
Next highest price €6,100 was paid for the First Prize Winner, Tully Performance Tested Bull, “Dunlon Classic” by “Oscar” and out of an imported dam. Bred by Eddie Hanlon, Dunbur Upper, Co. Wicklow he was purchased by Kildalton Agricultural College.

Price range for bulls was from €1600 with an 80% clearance.
Trade for the mainly young female sale offering was not as brisk with a top rpice of €2,000 reached twice.
Female Championship went to “Derrylamogue Cleo” (born January 2007) by “Derrygiff Mills” and out of a dam by “Liscally Lancer”. Bred by Eamonn Flanagan, Rosenallis, Portlaoise, Co. Laois she was unsold.
Reserve Female Championship went to “Goldstar Carmen” (also born January 2007) by “Mozart” and out of a dam by “Excellent”. Bred by Martin Ryan, Cabra, Thurles, she was purchased for €2,000 by Liam Hackett, Ballycumber, Co. Offaly.
Next Charolais Society sale is on Saturday in Ennis and the final sale for the year takes place in Carrick-on-Shannon on Saturday 6th December.
