TOP OF €15,500 AT CASTLEMARTIN

Outstanding was the consensus of opinion regarding the trade at the Castlemartin Charolais sale in Tullamore, on Saturday last (6th June).
A packed ringside and brisk bidding resulted in a total clearance of all lots on offer and an overall sale average of just under €4,000 for 54 females and a top price of €15,500 for their stock bull “Clonoulty Andraemon”.

Sale topper “Clonoulty Andraemon is by “Nevers” and out the great cow “Cottage Tasmin” by “Oscar” He has the top 5 €uroStar rating:
for Suckler Beef Value with an index of €283,
for the production of top class weanlings for export with an index of €171
for beef carcasses with an index of €229 and
for the production of top quality calves with a massive index of €685.
He was purchased for €15,500 by Peter Stritch, Bellisle, Clonlara, Co. Clare.

• Eight in-calf heifers averaged €3,387 with a top price of €6,600 for “Castlemartin Beth”. By “Boulteen Vivaldi” and out of a home bred dam “Castlemartin Sonia” by “Erudit” she was purchased by Peter Stritch, Bellisle,
Clonlara, Co. Clare.

• Eleven cows with Autumn born calves at foot averaged €5,373 with a top price of €10,200 for “Castlemartin Orange”. By “Jupiter” and out of a home bred dam “Castlemartin Denise” by “Drumgauty Viceroy” she was also purchased by Peter Stritch, from Clonlara, Co. Clare.

• Twelve cows with Spring born calves at foot averaged €4,383 with a top price of €6,100 for “Ballydavis Violet”. By “Indurain” and out of “Ballydavis Fortune” by “Kilgobbin Posidon” she was purchased by J.J. Melody, Bunratty, Co. Clare.

• Fourteen dry cows averaged €3,722 with a top price of €8,500 for “Castlemartin Sonia”. By “Erudit” and out of “Farmeligh Harpe” by “Farmeligh En-Coeur”, she was purchased by Martin Roche Flinter, Mullacash, Naas, Co. Kildare.

• Nine yearling heifers averaged €2,700 with a top price of €7,000 for “ Castlemartin Deirdre”. By the stock bull “Clonoulty Andraemon” and out of “Castlemartin Rayonnanne” by “Okapi”, she was purchased by Clare Ferris, Crossgar, Co. Down.
