CHAROLAIS TOP €4020 IN ENNIS

The good solid trade for Charolais continued at the Society’s second sale this Autumn held in Ennis on Saturday last 28th November.
The sale achieved a very good average of €2,272 for bulls and a 90% clearance, with a price range from €1500 to €4020.
Top price of the day €4020 went to Patrick McClean, Newtowncunningham, Lifford, Co. Donegal for “Roughan Dillon” by his stock bull “Roughan Viceroy” and out of a home bred dam by “Roughan Ultimatum”. With a Suckler Beef Value of €142 he was purchased by local farmer John McNamara,
Mohermoylan, Carron, Co. Clare.
Second highest price €4,000 also went to Patrick McClean for his first prize winner + Reserve Champion “Roughan Drew” by another of his stock bull’s “Roughan Ultimatum” and out of a dam by “Anneskeagh October” (Erudit line). He was purchased by Michael McNamara, Meggah West, Carron, Co. Clare.
Male championship went to Richard Murphy, Lyre, Banteer, Co. Cork for “Lyre Darra” by “Ocean” (Major/Fatcha) and out of an imported cow by “Laureat”. He was withdrawn unsold at €3,750.
Second in his class to the Champion, “Rockeoin Dromore” bred by John Tuohy, Dromore, Feakle, Co. Clare, sold for €3,125. By “Lyonsdemesne Tzar” and out of “Bunratty Tilly” he was purchased by Patrick Connors, Kilchreest, Loughrea, Co. Galway.
First prize winner “Western Domino” bred by Joe Clancy, Gortreevagh, Oughterard, Co. Galway sold for €2,700. By “Domino” and out of a home bred cow by “Hermes” he was purchased by Patrick Carroll, Ballyporteen, Castlewarren, Co. Kilkenny.
Also making €2,700 was the third sale offering from the Roughan Herd owned by Patrick McClean all the way from Donegal. “Roughan David” by their stock bull “Roughan Viceroi” was purchased by Des Maloney, Cree, Fortal, Birr, Co. Offaly.
